This room is anmed after the first recorded settler in the area, Samuel Stinson, who arrived in 1765 and built a log cabin on the north shore of Stinson lake, located about four miles north of RVI. The Stinson family became prominent landowners in the area, and their descendants played a key role in the development of Rumney.
